GENEVA, OH— The Alfred University women's track & field team competed at the Spire Academy Collegiate Indoor Games on Saturday.
"The team did a great job managing a long travel day and a demanding work week," graduate assistant coach
Kevin Flint said. "They competed hard against high caliber competition and that effort was reflected in the results. With Empire 8's approaching, it is encouraging to see the team headed in the right direction."
Meridian Bremel (Reading, VT/Woodstock Union) highlighted the meet with two personal bests in throws. She threw for 10.05m (32'-11.75") in the shot put to earn 23
rd overall. Bremel also notched 11.07m (36'-4") in the weight throw to finish in 26
th place.
Natalya Ryckman (New Eagle, PA/Ringgold) also competed in the weight throw, earning 24
th after posting a throw of 11.37m (37'-3.75"). She also ran in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles where she finished with a personal best time of 10.69 to place seventh in the heat and 28
th overall.
Anne Spila (Mechanicsburg, PA/Trinity) jumped for 4.96m (16'-3.25") to claim 23
rd in the long jump.
McKenzie Hall (Hornell, NY/Hornell) crossed the finish line for fourth in her heat and 24
th overall in the 1-mile run at 5:32.63.
The Saxons return to Houghton University to compete in the Last Chance Conference Qualifier on Saturday, February 22 at 10 AM.
