FREDONIA, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming & diving team dropped a 244-48 decision to University of Rochester on Saturday afternoon but defeated the hosts, Fredonia, 194-60 in tri-meet action.
 
"We were not quite at 100% today. A little bit tired, but we are working hard," Head Coach Brian Striker '00 said. "We had some solid races, but lack the depth to give University of Rochester a significant challenge with team score. Despite the momentum that we have and the results we are seeing, I think they are looking forward to a few weeks off from meets!"
 
The Saxons were swept by the Yellowjackets, who won every single event over both AU and the Blue Devils. The Saxons swept the Blue Devils in the head-to-head contest besides the default diving wins that Fredonia had on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. Alexandra Simmons (Danbury, CT/Danbury) picked up the first win (besides the default win in the 200-yard medley relay) over Fredonia in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Kyra Harry (Garborone, Botswana/Enko Botho) added the second in the 200-free before eventually winning the 50-free and 100-free races. Elizabeth Share (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) swept the backstroke events. Isobel Anderegg (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area) won both breaststroke events. Simmons added a win in the 200-yard butterfly. Lauren Mott (Cortland, NY/Cortland) picked up the win in the 500-yard freestyle. Share also won the 400-yard individual medley.

AU capped the day with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay with the team of Frankie Gorres (Salt Point, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt), Mariam Kiragu (Gabarone, Botswana/Legae Academy), Courtney Cherricks (Chincoteague, VA/Big Spring) and Mott.
 
The Saxons will next travel to Ithaca College for the Bomber Invitational, after enjoying the rest of November off. The three-day invitational begins on Thursday, December 4 at 5:00pm.
