Three AUVB Players Receive All-E8 Recognition

ALFRED, NY – Three members of the Alfred University women's volleyball team were named to the All-Empire 8 Conference Team, announced by the league on Thursday.

Taylor Malone (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) and Delaney Sims (Bogart, GA/George Walton Academy) both earned spots on the All-E8 Second Team.

Malone received her third overall conference accolade. She was the Saxons' leading scorer with 389.0 points, combining for a team-leading 343 kills, 36 service aces and 18 blocks. Malone also led with 3.27 kills per set while tallying 238 digs and eight double-doubles. Both her points and kills were fifth best in a single season in program history. Malone recorded her 1,000th career point at Russell Sage College on Oct. 18. She finishes her career second in career points (1,080.5), kills (975) and kills per set (3.42) in program history.

Sims earned back-to-back second team honors. She led AUVB with a third single-season best of 837 assists, along with 13 double-doubles. Sims averaged 7.90 assists per set, matching her third-ranked single-season record from 2023. She also tallied 169.0 on 105 kills, 44 blocks and 37 service aces. Sims registered her first career triple-double with 15.5 points, 41 assists and 12 digs against Penn State Behrend on Sept. 25. She also earned her 2,000th career assist at Hartwick on Oct. 17. Sims wraps up her four years as a Saxon as the program's all-time leader in assists per set (7.82) and second in career assists (2,204).

Carleigh Santavy (Commerce, MI/Walled Lake Northern) was named to All-E8 for the second time in her career. She was AUVB's second leading scorer with 318.0 points on 301 kills, 24.0 blocks and four service aces. Santavy recorded 15 double figure scoring performances, with four of them being 20 or more points. She scored a career-high 23.0 points at Russell Sage (Oct. 18) and Nazareth (Oct. 31).

Jade Wolfer (Nunda, NY/Keshequa) was named to the E8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team. This team honors a student-athlete who has emerged as a leader not only on the field of play, but in the classroom and in the community. In addition, they "compete with honor and integrity" and have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.

"I'm so thrilled to hear we've got three All-E8 selections," Head Coach Mike Honeycutt said. "Seniors Delaney [Sims] and Taylor [Malone] (Second Team), along with junior Carleigh [Santavy] (Third Team). It's the third year in a row for Taylor and the second year for Delaney and Carleigh. They all put in a tremendous amount of effort this year, leading our team to great success on the court. They've truly made their mark in our AUVB history books and Carleigh has another year to keep climbing. These selections are well-deserved and I couldn't be prouder of them."
