GENEVA, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming & diving team fell on the road at William Smith College, 160-131 on Friday evening.
"More often than not, William Smith is a close matchup for our women. We swam well, but it was evident that the three meets last week and our workouts this week caught up with us," Head Coach
Brian Striker '00 said. "Still solid performances, but a bit tired. It is a tough loss, but also good to know we are good to hang in there, even though a bit beat up. That being said - Ruby [Kavanagh] continues to better her score in 3-meter and Liz [Share] and Kyra [Harry] did great!"
The Saxons began the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay.
Elizabeth Share (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon),
Liv Richeda (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell),
Courtney Cherricks (Chincoteague, VA/Big Spring) and
Kyra Harry (Garborone, Botswana/Enko Botho) combined for a time of 1:58.08, besting the rest of the pool by over three seconds. Cherricks went on to win the next event for the Saxons, clocking a time of 2:10.27 in the 200-yard freestyle, just before Share won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.16.
Isobel Anderegg (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area) picked up the next win for the Saxons, swimming a 1:14.61. Harry reached the wall first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.67 and then again in the 100-yard free, reaching with a time of 57.10.
Share and Richeda went 1-2 in the 200-yard breaststroke. Share won the event with a time of 2:38.05 and Richeda followed with a 2:43.85. Harry added her fourth victory of the night when she won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.93.
