Saxons Ski at Two Mountains Over the Weekend

CORTLAND, NY -- The Alfred University men's alpine skiing team took the slopes at two different mountains over the weekend, competing in the slalom on Saturday at Labrador Mountain and in the giant slalom Sunday at Greek Peak Resort.

"We had some excellent results and we can tell our training is working," Head Coach Bob Cilino '13 said. "Sunday we had some issues but we will keep working at it next week."

Esa Jack Connelly (Schuylerville, NY/Schuylerville) led the way all weekend for the Saxons. Saturday at Labrador he improved his second time run by almost two seconds, coming in at an impressive 54.58 and a combined time of 1:50.88. On Sunday he was even better, finishing 37th overall in a field of over 85 competitors. His two times came in practically even around 57 seconds, finishing with a total of 1:54.88.

Kevin Voegelin (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) finished both of his runs on Saturday, coming in with a combined time of 2:16.28. Garrett Farabuagh (Abington, PA/Abington Senior) completed his Sunday runs in the giant slalom with both of his times at the 1:17 mark.

All three of them will get another shot this weekend at Bristol Mountain. The giant slalom will take place on Saturday and the slalom on Sunday, both of which get underway at 9:30 a.m.
