HOUGHTON, NY – The Alfred University women's track & field team returned to Houghton University to compete at the Highlander Invitational on Saturday.
"We're getting further into the indoor season and it's exciting to see that the team's hard work and training is paying off," Graduate Assistant Coach
Emma Anderson said. "We had some exciting performances and a lot of our athletes gave it their absolute all out on the track and in the field."
McKenzie Hall (Hornell, NY/Hornell) placed the highest for the Saxons in the mile run. She registered an eighth-place finish on a time of 5:42.27.
Anne Spila (Mechanicsburg, PA/Trinity) jumped for 4.61m (15'-1.5") to claim ninth in the long jump.
Natalya Ryckman (New Eagle, PA/Ringgold) threw for a personal best 11.57m (37'-11.5") to notch 13
th in the weight throw.
Octavia Fred (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk) ran a time of 1:11.33 in the 400 meter-dash, registering fifth in her heat and 14
th overall.
Alfred University will have a week off from competition before heading to SUNY Brockport for the Brockport Multi on February 7-8.
