GRANTHAM, PA – The Alfred University women's track & field team competed at Messiah University on Saturday, finishing 15
th out of the 16 teams that scored points.
The Saxons had two, second place finishes between the heptathlon on Thursday and Friday, and the regular invitational on Saturday.
Anne Spila (Mechanicsburg, PA/Trinity) got the first of them when she finished second in the heptathlon on Friday and
Bianca Durso (Utica, NY/New Hartford Senior) picked up the second, taking silver in the high jump on Saturday, during the full invitational. Durso, who also competed in the heptathlon on Thursday and Friday, cleared 1.48m (4'-10.25") on Saturday to finish second.
Spila led the three-person group of multi athletes on Thursday and Friday as she took second with 4,068 points, just three points off of tying her school record. She had four events with over 600 points being scored with the top earner being the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.17, earning 694 points. Durso finished fifth with a score of 3,837 points while
Annabelle Townsend (Woodsville, NH/Woodsville) competed in her first full heptathlon, scoring 3,040 points to finish 14
th out of the 15 competitors.
