ALFRED, NY – The Empire 8 named Alfred University's Cole Loewke (Hilton, NY/Hilton) the Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
 
Loewke continued to impress in his first season as a starter as he tied a team-total of 11 points on the week with seven goals and four assists. He had back-to-back games with hat-trick scoring and two assists in each as the Saxons defeated soon-to-be Empire 8 foe, SUNY Brockport and Empire 8 opponent, Russell Sage College. Loewke was credited with the game-winning goal (second in a row) against Brockport while scoring one man-up and one man-down goal against Sage. He also gathered five ground balls in the Saturday win against Russell Sage. Shooting wise, he shot .515 with .686 of his shots being on goal. Wednesday's game and Saturday's games were his second and third in a row with a shooting percentage and shots on goal percentage of over .500.
 
Loewke's award is the fourth time this season that the Saxons have earned a spot on the E8 Weekly Awards for men's lacrosse.
