Box Score OSWEGO, NY – The Alfred University men's lacrosse team wrapped up their week with a 16-7 loss to Oswego State on Saturday.
Cole Loewke (Hilton, NY/Hilton) led Alfred University with two goals and an assist.
Owen Zimmerman (Reamstown, PA/Cocalico) finished the game with two goals.
Quinn Sullivan (Elmira, NY/Elmira) added a team-high 11 saves for AU.
"We came out flat today and their goalies made some really good saves," Head Coach
Jason Lockner said. "We've got to do a better job on the ground balls, but
Benjamin Cunningham was outstanding."
Zimmerman was the first to score for the Saxons early in the first quarter for the initial lead. The Lakers responded with five consecutive goals before Zimmerman scored his second goal of the afternoon. Oswego State scored twice more before taking a 7-2 lead into halftime.
An assist from
Justin Mosher (Hilton, NY/Hilton) to Loewke in the third quarter cut the deficit for AU.
Brendan Riley (Fairport, NY/Fairport) got involved on the offensive end, finding the back of the net for the Saxons. Later in the quarter, the Saxons relied on a goal from
Benjamin Cunningham (Dover, MD/The Gunston School), but Alfred University still trailed 13-5 going into the fourth quarter. Loewke and
Kevin Matson (Chenango Bridge, NY/Chenango Forks) each scored for the Saxons in the final quarter, but Oswego State held on for the win.
Alfred University will next host SUNY Geneseo on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
