ALFRED, NY – Alfred University's Anne Spila (Mechanicsburg, PA/Trinity) was named the Empire 8 Women's Field Athlete of the Week of the Week on Monday afternoon in an official announcement by Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro.
 
This is Spila's second weekly honor of the year as she earned Track Athlete of the Week in December. In total, Spila has six E8 Weekly Honors which ties her with Amber Smith '20 of women's volleyball for seventh place in school history.
 
Spila had three Top-10 finishes on Friday's Nazareth University Conference Tune-Up Meet. Her best finish was in the long jump, hitting 5.37m (17'-7.5") to take third place out of 32 jumpers. Sticking with jumps, Spila cleared 1.47m (4'-9.75") in the high jump to take sixth out of 18 competitors. She rounded out her performance with a seventh place finish in the 200-meter dash, clocking in a new personal best time of 27.32. Her new time puts her at No. 5 in the Empire 8.
