ONEONTA, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming & diving team fell to Hartwick College by a score of 165-90 on Saturday, January 20th.
The Saxons (2-5, 0-2 Empire 8) dropped their second Empire 8 meet of the season, but will look to bounce back.
"It never feels good leaving Hartwick with a loss; they swim well in their pool." Head Coach Brian Striker '00 said. "Across the board, we were fatigued, which doesn't bode well when you swim and dive away, in close meets. That being said, it is a good sign of where we are, knowing how hard we have been working in the pool the past few weeks, and what we can do when we rest as we head into taper and fine tune things for our championships."
The first points of the day were claimed by a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay by Kamila Roman (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck), Mia Spencer (Omaha, NE/Omaha Central), Sarah Anderson (Wayne, PA/Radnor), and Mariam Kiragu (Gaborone, Botswana/Legae Academy) with a time of 2:00.88.
Mia Spencer finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:08.18. She also placed second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:27.79.
