SELINSGROVE, PA – The Alfred University men's track & field team competed in the Jim Taylor Invitational hosted by Susquehanna University on Saturday.
The Saxons were paced by the 4x100-meter relay team of
John Wendt (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter), Steven Jackson (Culpeper, VA/Eastern View), Jaleel Joseph (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and
Neil Peters (The Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton). The combination ran for a time of 43.73 to finish third in the event. The next top finish was also a relay as the 4x400-meter team of
Connor Scriven (Peoria, AZ/Liberty), Jayden Noel (Brooklyn, NY/Automotive), Connor Kerr (Tioga, PA/Williamson) and
Kevin Flint (Caledonia, NY/Caledonia-Mumford) took 10
th with a time of 3:39.58 on Saturday.
"We travelled down to Susquehanna this weekend to preview the regionals facility. We got to compete against some schools from PA that we normally don't compete against," Interim Head Coach
Matt Phillips '10 said. "Despite the colder weather we had some strong performances. On the men's and women's side, we saw their performances reflect the hard work they have been putting in. Over the next few weeks we will look to build on this strong start and are looking forward to see what more this group can do."
Individually, Kerr and Peters were close to Top-10 finishes. Kerr ran a time of 52.80 in the 400-meter dash for 11
th place. Peters ran an 11.66 for 13
th in the 100-meter dash.
The Saxons will next compete at SUNY Geneseo for a two-day meet on Friday, March 31 at 3:00pm and Saturday, April 1 at 10:00am.
