ALFRED, NY – Neil Peters (Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) of the Alfred University men's track & field team was named the Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday.

He receives the weekly honor for the fourth time in his career, first ever as a field athlete. 

Peters earned two third place finishes in the final of his two events at the St. John Fisher University Cardinal Last Chance Meet on Sunday. He competed in the long jump where he posted a personal best of 6.69m (21'-11.5"). Previously, Peters had a 5.92m (19'-5.25") mark to claim 16th at the Baldwin Wallace University Harrison Dillard Twilight on Friday. In addition to the long jump on Sunday, he ran in the 100-meter dash. In the prelims, he qualified for the final by placing third with a time of 11.08. Peters finished with the same result, .01 second behind his prelim time with 11:09 in the final.

Peters and Alfred University travel to Williams College for the All-Atlantic Regional Conference Championship on May 14-15.
