ALFRED, NY – For the third time this season and eighth time in his career, Alfred University's
Brewster Marshall (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) has landed on the Empire 8 Weekly Honors list as he was named the Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week on Monday in an official announcement by Associate Commissioner,
Joe Venniro.
Marshall is now on a six-game streak of double-digit scoring after scoring 20+ points in each of the games this past weekend, helping the Saxons go 2-0 and clinching a spot in the Empire 8 Championship Playoffs. He scored 27 points in a dominant road win at Russell Sage College, going 11-of-18 from the floor including a 3-for-6 performance from the 3-point line. He tacked on two free throws to cap off his scoring efforts against the Gators. Marshall had a double-double in the game with 12 rebounds (10 offensive) while adding three blocks, two assists and one steal. Marshall jumped into a Saturday game with another 23 points, shooting 9-for-14 from the floor with two 3-pointers and three free throws. He was one rebound short of another double-double as he pulled down nine boards. He added two more blocks, two steals and an assist.
Marshall is now tied for second all-time among AU student-athletes with eight Empire 8 Weekly Awards. He is tied with current Saxon,
Ana Ion (Bucharest, Romania/Episcopal School of Jacksonville) and three-time All-American,
Seth Spicer '18 of the men's track & field program. On Monday, Marshall picked up his 10
th Saxon of the Week accolade and was joined by western equestrian's
Jess TenBrink (Clarence, NY/Clarence) who qualified for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championships after being the High Point Rider in the region.
Marshall and the Saxons will next travel to Medaille University on Tuesday, February 7 at 7:30pm for Empire 8 action.
