ALFRED, NY – Three members of the Alfred University men's basketball members were selected to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for Division III, as announced on Tuesday.

Nolan Gilbert (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley), Gennaro Picco (Hornell, NY/Hornell) and Franlys Valenzuela (Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic/San Ysidro) all earned CSC Academic honors. 

"I'm really happy for these three guys," Head Coach Erich Kaempffe said. "They work their butts off in the classroom and understand how important that side of the equation is. Their commitment to their academic success and future sets a great example for our younger guys."

The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.

To qualify, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, hold a 3.50 or higher cumulative GPA, and must either participate in 90 percent of contests or start in 66 percent of contests.
