BROCKPORT, NY – The Alfred University women's track & field team finished strong during the SUNY Brockport Multi & Invitational on Saturday.
 
After earning seven points from the pentathletes on Friday, the Saxons tacked on another nine points on Saturday to finish 10^th out of the 19 teams competing.
 
AU's biggest jump in points was the distance medley relay team of Olivia Gilbert (Ontario, NY/Wayne Central), Ashley Page (Wayland, NY/Wayland-Cohocton), Sarah Lutkins (Union Springs, NY/Union Springs) and McKenzie Hall (Hornell, NY/Hornell) as they picked up eight points from taking second place. The squad combined for a time of 13:21.04. They were in first place after the 1,600-meter leg of the race, before SUNY Brockport jumped up two places to take first place during the 2,400-meter leg. The Saxons closed out the race in second place, less than seven seconds out of first place and over eight seconds ahead of third place, Division I St. Bonaventure.
 
The Saxons scored their final point when Ashley O'Toole (Simi Valley, CA/Simi Valley) ran a 3:37.32 in the 1,000-meter run to take eighth place.
 
There were another two possible scoring opportunities for Alfred as Nyah Solly (Colden, NY/Springville-Griffith Institute) finished ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.67m (35'-0.25") and 10^th in the long jump with a distance of 5.10m (16'-8.75"), both are collegiate career-highs.
 
The Saxons will next travel for a Friday meet at Rochester Institute of Technology on February 10 at 4:00pm.
