ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University women's track & field team had multiple Top-10 finishes during the Rochester Institute of Technology Friday Meet.
AU's top finish was
Olivia Gilbert (Ontario, NY/Wayne Central) as she won the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:11.97, finishing more than six seconds faster than the rest of the field that included runners from Division I St. Bonaventure University and D1 Canisius College.
"Despite how late and long of a day this was, we did very well at this meet," Head Coach
Matt Phillips '10 said. "Lots of good performances, people who scored and even a win to cap it all off."
McKenzie Hall (Hornell, NY/Hornell) also had a great finish as she clocked a time of 5:30.76 in the mile to take second.
Bianca Durso (Utica, NY/New Hartford Senior) also found a Top-3 spot, clearing 1.52m (4'-11.75") in the high jump to earn bronze.
Ashley Page (Wayland, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) had the next top finish with a time of 1:05.31 in the 400-meter dash for fifth place.
Mari Jablonski (Monticello, GA/Jasper County) and
Nyah Solly (Colden, NY/Springville-Griffith Institute) both had seventh place finishes. Jablonski clocked a time of 20:11.56 in the 5,000-meter run while Solly jumped 5.35m (17'-6.75") in the long jump.
Anne Spila (Mechanicsburg, PA/Trinity) qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.38 and then later finished eighth with a time of 10.35.
Lina Young (North Collins, NY/North Collins) finished 10
th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.59 while Hall also took 10
th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:36.31.
The Saxons will next have one final tune-up before the Empire 8 Indoor Championships. They will travel to the hosts of the E8 Championships, Nazareth College on Friday, February 17 for a 4:00pm meet.
