GENEVA, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming & diving team dropped a contested road matchup against William Smith College.
The Saxons (2-3, 0-0 Empire 8) fell to the Herons (3-4, 0-0 Liberty League) by a score of 92-144 on Friday night.
"I thought we did well this evening after a great week of workouts. " Head Coach Brian Striker '00 said. "The divers continue to impress. There were also some great swims. The men got to swim some off events and there were some pretty good surprises. The women put up a great fight led by Mia and Sarah. All in all, we have put together a great Fall dual meet season. I am excited for our invitational in a couple of weeks!"
The first points of the day were claimed by a first place finish in the 200-medley relay by Kamila Roman (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck), Mia Spencer (Omaha, NE/Omaha Central), Sarah Anderson (Wayne, PA/Radnor), and Maureen Derry (Asheville, NC/Asheville).
Mia Spencer claimed first place in the 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard breaststroke. Eden Vallely (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) finished right behind Spencer in second in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Sarah Anderson won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.92. She also had a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.22.
Maureen Derry finished second place in the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard backstroke.
The Saxons will next travel to take part in the Ithaca Invitational on the weekend of December 1st.
