ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming & diving team continued their season with a dual meet victory over Pitt Bradford on Friday night from the McLane Natatorium.
The Saxons (1-1, 0-0 Empire 8) defeated the Panthers (0-2, 0-0 AMCC) by a score of 160-57 on Friday night.
"This evening, we were able to move a few people around in our lineup this evening and the team clearly had some fun with it." Head Coach Brian Striker '00 said. "It was actually one of our better performances overall in recent years as far as the results that we were seeing from most everyone in different events. I am really excited for this group, they are working very hard and they are pretty focused. I think more importantly to me, they are having some fun doing it!"
Alexandra Simmons (Danbury, CT/Danbury) got the first individual points for the Saxons as she won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:33.67. Mariam Kiragu (Gaborone, Botswana/Legae Academy) earned an individual first place finish, swimming a 2:19.51 in the 200-yard freestyle.
Kamila Roman (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.46. Mia Spencer (Omaha, NE/Omaha Central) took first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:24.84 and won the 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 1:06.36. Sarah Anderson (Wayne, PA/Radnor) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.73.
As a team the Saxons also won the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay and the 200-yard Medley Relay.
The Saxons will next host Fredonia on Saturday, November 11th at 12:00pm.
