ALFRED, NY – The Empire 8 Athletic Conference named Madison Palmer (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) of Alfred University as the Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Monday in an official announcement by Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro.
 
Palmer had the top finish for AU on Thursday's Roberts Wesleyan College's Redhawk Invitational as she threw 11.33m in the shot put, taking first amongst collegiate competitors. She also earned fifth place in the javelin throw, tossing 17.84m.
 
Palmer was joined on Monday in the Empire 8 listings by men's track & field's Neil Peters (The Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) as the Men's Track Athlete of the Week, Scott Kimiecik (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) as the Men's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week and Alyssa Piechota (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) as the Women's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week.
 
Palmer and the Saxons will next compete at SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, April 2.
