ITHACA, NY – Bianca Durso (Utica, NY/New Hartford) finished ninth out of 11 competitors on Sunday in the pentathlon at Ithaca College to represent Alfred University's women's track & field team.
 
Durso totaled 2,336 points on Sunday with a top score of 588 coming from the high jump, having cleared 1.47m, making her tied for fourth in the event. "It was a topsy-turvy weekend with the snow storm and having to move Bianca from a Friday meet to a Sunday meet, but we thought she competed strong especially since the one athlete from Ithaca that won the event posted the third best score in the country," Head Coach Dr. Angie Taylor said. "Bianca is a very energetic and determined student-athlete and I think today showed those qualities in her as she had good finishes throughout the day and especially in the high jump."
 
Durso's next highest-scoring event was the 60-meter hurdles as she ran a 10.64 for 541 points. She closed out the day with a 443-point 800-meter run time of 2:52.05. Durso scored 428 points in the long jump and 336 points in the shot put. She vaulted 4.50m in the long jump and threw 7.01m in the shot.
 
Durson and the Saxons will next head back to Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday, February 11 for a 4:00pm meet.
