Foley and Abuelmaali Place High at Geneseo It's Gonna Be May Meet

GENESEO, NY – The Alfred University men's track & field team had a plethora of top-scoring finishes on Saturday during the SUNY Geneseo It's Gonna Be May Meet.

Both Sean Foley (Ransomville, NY/Lewiston-Porter) and Rashid Abuelmaali (Latham, NY/Shaker) both had third place finishes on the day. Foley ended his day with his third place finish in the javelin with a throw of 39.82m and Abuelmaali ran a 1:00.35 in the 400-meter hurdles for his bronze finish. "We had a well-rounded meet today as we had multiple place-finishers here at Geneseo," Head Coach Dr. Angie Taylor said. "Rashid and Sean placing as high as third in their events was exciting as well as our sprint events doing the same. We're very excited for the Empire 8 Championships next weekend and we are going to be prepared for it."

George Mecca (Derby, NY/Eden) followed Abuelmaali closely in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:01.04 for fourth place finish. The 4x100-meter relay team of Neil Peters (The Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton), Jackson Trimboli (Arkport, NY/Arkport Central), John Wendt (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) and Cody Collins (Alden, NY/Iroquois) finished fourth as well with a time of 44.49. Collins picked up an individual fourth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.43 while Peters followed in seventh with a 11.59.

Peters and Trimboli scored more points for the Saxons in the 200-meter dash. Peters took seventh with a 23.17 and Trimboli was right behind with a 23.24 for eighth. Foley tied for seventh in the pole vault with a height of 3.86m.

In the throws, Izzy McClure (Cohocton, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) took sixth in the shot put with a toss of 12.37m and seventh in the discus with a 36.53m chuck.
