ROCHESTER, NY –The Alfred University men's track & field team had multiple place finishers during the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic on Friday afternoon as well as a qualifier for the All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field Championships.

"I am very happy with the way the team competed today. The sprint crew showed some outstanding performances today placing second and fourth in the 100 meters and getting fourth in the 4x100," Head Coach
Dr. Angie Taylor said. "The men's 4x8 ran awesome to place third and secure a position for AARTFC. Alfred University had solid performances across the board and are shaping up to have a great Empire 8 Championships."

The 4x800-meter relay team of
Kyle Full (Akron, NY/Akron), Kyle Jenkins (Marcellus, NY/West Genesee), George Mecca (Derby, NY/Eden) and
Grant Baldwin (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) finished third on the day as their time of 8:53.56 qualified them for the AARTFC meet in Selinsgrove, PA on Wednesday and Thursday, May 19 and 20.

The top finish for the Saxons on the day was
Cody Collins (Alden, NY/Iroquois) as he took second place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.40 along with fellow AU sprinter,
Neil Peters (The Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) in fourth place with a 11.49 finish.

Sean Foley (Ransomville, NY/Lewiston-Porter) had an overall fourth place finish in the pole vault but ended in second place out of the collegiate competitors, hitting a height of 3.95m as two unattached vaulters took first and second. Foley then turned around and placed sixth in the javelin throw with a toss of 38.18m.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Peters,
Jackson Trimboli (Arkport, NY/Arkport Central), John Wendt (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) and Collins had a Top-5 finish with their 45.38 fourth place.

Mecca earned sixth place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.84 as the top Empire 8 runner in the event. Peters closed out the top finishes with his long jump, reaching 6.32m on his last attempt, surpassing his previous attempts on the day by almost half a foot.

The Saxons will next compete at Nazareth College on Saturday, May 1.
