BUFFALO, NY – The Alfred University men's track & field team finished seventh out of 14 teams competing in the University at Buffalo Invitational on Saturday, topping teams from Division I and Division III.

The Saxons' top performance of the day was that of
Neil Peters (The Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) as he finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.91. Right behind him was
Cody Collins (Alden, NY/Iroquois) with a time of 24.22 for seventh place in the event.

"We had a lot of great finishes all around the track and in the field and I'm very happy with how our men performed today," Head Coach
Dr. Angie Taylor said. "Both of our relays along with our sprints and the 400-meter hurdles had excellent finishes as we saw some of our newer athletes lead the way as well as our veterans doing their part to score high as a team. We hope to continue this momentum and excitement that our team is producing as we prepare for St. John Fisher on Saturday."

The 4x100-meter relay team of
Rashid Abuelmaali (Latham, NY/Shaker), George Mecca (Derby, NY/Eden), Connor Kerr (Tioga, PA/Williamson) and
Chris Mayo (Wolcott, NY/North Rose-Wolcott) finished fifth with a time of 3:44.69. Mecca also picked up an individual fifth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.01 as he was followed extremely close by Abuelmaali in sixth with a time of 1:01.12.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Peters,
Jackson Trimboli (Arkport, NY/Arkport Central), John Wendt (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) and Collins narrowly missed fifth place as they settled for sixth with a time of 45.56 on Saturday.

Saul McCoy (Queens Village, NY/Bayside) made his return to the shot put ring as he finished sixth with a toss of 13.19m.
Sean Foley (Ransomville, NY/Lewiston-Porter) closed out the top field finishes as he vaulted to a height of 3.75m in the pole vault for eighth place. Collins also picked up an eighth place spot with a time of 11.77 in the 100-meter dash.
