ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming & diving team fell to Nazareth College, 94-182 on Saturday morning in what would be the only dual meet before the Empire 8 Championships for the 2020-21 season.

Senior
Lauren Serotta (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) picked up a pair of wins in the backstroke events, winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.45 and the 200-yard with a finish of 2:21.30. She also had the pool's quickest split in the backstroke for the 200-yard medley relay, timing a mark of 29.51 almost a second faster than any of the five teams in that event.

"It was really great to get back in the water!" Head Coach
Brian Striker '00 said. "It has been a long year and we were all pretty grateful to be competing. I think we're pretty realistic about the results, having such an abnormal season. Regardless of whether we had a best performance or something that was below expectations, we now have some perspective on what we have to do as we prepare for a championship in three weeks."

Ana Perez Hernandez (Zinacantepec, Mexico/UVM Campus Toluca) swam a 58.84 in the 100-yard freestyle to earn the Saxons' first individual second place finish of the day.
Mia Spencer (Omaha, NE/ Omaha Central) followed shortly after with a second place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:45.25.
Ivy Vallely (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) claimed her own second place as she swam a 5:51.99 in the 500-yard freestyle.

Caitlin Behr (Long Beach Island, NJ/Southern Regional) and
Cassidy Jeche (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) had a two-three finish in the 100-yard butterfly. Behr led the way with a 1:10.78 finish as Jeche edged out the remaining two Nazareth swimmers with her time of 1:11.89.

The Saxons will next look to head to the Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, NY for the Empire 8 Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday, April 1 and Saturday, April 3.
