ALFRED, NY – Sai Baraka (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney) of the Alfred University men's soccer team was named the Empire 8 Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after an official announcement by Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro on Monday.
 
Baraka scored his second goal of the season as he chipped in a loose ball off an Alfred corner kick in the second overtime period against Keuka College. It was his second game-winning goal of the year as it propelled AU to post-season play, claiming the No. 5 seed in the Empire 8 tournament.
 
Baraka was joined in the weekly listing by women's soccer was Jacey Palmgreen (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) as the Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week and men's swimming & diving's Emiliano Terrazas (La Paz, Bolivia/Saint Andrew's) as the Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week.
 
Baraka and the Saxons will next travel to St. John Fisher College on Monday, November 1 for the opening round of the Empire 8 Men's Soccer Tournament.
