ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team defeated Empire 8 foe, Utica College on Friday afternoon, 118-53 in the McLane Center Natatorium.

The Saxons won every event on Friday but exhibitioned later events of the meet. "The second meet of the week went well, they looked much more responsive and the scores and times reflected it," Head Coach Brian Striker '00 said. "One more tomorrow, and hopefully the trend continues with some faster swimming and better diving!"

The men had three relay teams in both the 200 medley and 200 free in which they went one-two-three in both.

Bryan Rafoth (Rochester, NY/Eastridge), Gregory Simonian (Grand Island, NY/Canisius) and Kyle McGlynn (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) all had times about the Utica swimmers but had to be exhibitioned in the results.

Logan Cross (Olean, NY/Olean) won both diving events as he scored a 254.90 on the 1-meter and a 212.68 (exhibition) on the 3-meter.

The Saxons had a complete sweep of the 100-yard freestyle with Edmister swimming a 49.75 followed by Rafoth, Chadima and Andrew Guariglia (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South).

Evans, McGlynn and Andrew Parr (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) took the top three places in the 100-yard backstroke with Evans finishing with a 1:05.95. Yates had the top time in the 500 free as he swam a 5:35.24 while R.J. Zellner (Wallingford, CT/Mark T. Sheehan) followed with a 5:38.62.
