ALFRED, NY -- Alfred University's Andy Edmister (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley Central) was named the Empire 8 Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week on Monday as made official in an announcement by Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro.

Senior Edmister totaled 47 points in individual events as he led the Saxons in the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational over the weekend. He was also part of all five point-scoring relays during the three-day event to total 222 points with four eighth place finishes for 44 points each and a seventh-place finish for 46 points. As an individual, Edmister had a top finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.86 to finish sixth for 24 points. He then finished seventh in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:56.25 for 23 points.

He and Lauren Serotta (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) swept the Empire 8 Weekly Awards for swimming & diving on Monday as Edmister was also named one of the Saxons of the Week along with Bri Hicks (Burlington, VT/Ithaca) of the Alfred University women's basketball team.

Edmister and the Saxons will next head south for their annual Florida Training Trip. After that, they will head to Division II, Le Moyne College on Tuesday, January 14.
