ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming & diving team got their first look at Empire 8 competition on Friday evening at Nazareth College.
 
The Saxons fell, 57.5-155.5 in their first conference dual meet of the season. They had two top finishes on the day in which Lauren Serotta (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) won the 100-short-course meter backstroke with a time of 1:08.76. Alexis Deluca (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore East) had the other top finish as she finished second in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 10:26.36.
 
"Nazareth has a short-course meter pool, which is very different to race in than the rest of our meets," Head Coach Brian Striker '00 said. "Racing in it cold turkey is hard, as we saw it today in the finishes of our races. We will take note of and make adjustments as we move on, tomorrow and next weekend."
 
The Saxon women will next head to Geneva, NY to face William Smith College on Saturday, November 2 at 11 a.m. in a non-conference dual meet.
