ALFRED, NY -- Senior Drew Gardner (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) was named the Empire 8 Men's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Gardner kept the Saxons in the game as they defeated Nazareth College on Saturday, 13-9 for the first time since 1997. Gardner faced 28 shots (17 on goal) and made eight saves. He made four in the first to keep the quarter tied, 3-3 and giving the Saxons (7-5, 3-1 Empire 8) a chance to regain the lead and claim the conference win on the road.

Gardner and the Saxons will next host Houghton College in their home finale at Yunevich Stadium on Wednesday, April 18 at 4PM.
