ALFRED, NY -- Sophomore Megan Alper (Belmont, MA/Belmont) of the Alfred University women's track & field team earned her first Empire 8 Women's Track Athlete of the Week recognition on Monday afternoon.

The sprinter finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.26 to lead the pack at the Division II, California University of Pennsylvania Early Bird Meet. She also finished eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.55. She also teamed with Danielle Perry (Leicester, NY/York Central), Krissy Roberts (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) and Frances Sariego (Beaver Dams, NY/Corning-Painted Post) took third with a time of 54.56.

Alper was also recently named one of the Saxons of the Week, sharing the honor with men's lacrosse's Shane Weber (Hull, MA/Hull). It is the second time this season that Alper has earned Saxon of the Week.

Alper and the Saxons will next head to SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, March 31 for a 10AM meet start.
