ALFRED, NY -- Sophomore
Krissy Roberts (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) earned her first Empire 8 Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Roberts picked up her first event win in the long jump on Saturday at Houghton College. She won the event with a huge personal-best distance of 5.14m, topping her previous mark of 4.98m. She is now 0.54m away from tying the Alfred University school record of 5.68m set by
Val Thompson in 1984 (Thompson is one of Alfred University's three NCAA National Champions, winning the 100-meter hurdles in the outdoor 1983 season). Roberts also competed in the triple jump where she finished fifth with a hop-skip-jump of 10.00m.
Roberts and her Saxons will next head to The College at Brockport on Saturday, February 17 at 10AMÂ for their final meet before the Empire 8 Conference Championships.
