ALFRED, NY -- First year long and triple jumper
Danielle Perry (Leicester, NY/York Central) was named the Empire 8 Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Perry competed in her first collegiate outdoor track and field meet at California University of Pennsylvania on Saturday. In the meet, she finished fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.70m (35'-1.25"). The distance broke the school record of 10.57m (34'-8.25") set by
Corine Pettit (Strykersville, NY/Holland) in 2013. Perry also led the Saxon jumpers in the long jump with a distance of 4.76m (15'-7.5"). That distance is .02m from besting her indoor personal best in the event.
Perry has earned an Indoor Field Athlete of the Week when she broke the Alfred University indoor triple jump record at the Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational that was set back in 1987 at a distance of 10.67 meters (34'-7.5") with her best of 10.87 meters (35'-7.95").
The Saxons will next take part in the two-day meet at Widener University on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1 in Chester, PA.
