ALFRED, NY -- Junior goalie Chris Gutierrez (Holbrook, NY/Sachem East) was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week by the Empire 8 Athletic Conference on Monday afternoon for his two shutouts over the weekend.

Gutierrez earned his second and third shutout wins of the season this past weekend. The junior goalie made nine saves against Medaille College, making it his new career-high in saves during a shutout win. Gutierrez also made three saves against Brooklyn College. He faced a total of 24 shots this weekend with 12 on goal while playing all 90 minutes.

The Saxons will next head to Pitt-Bradford on Tuesday, September 13 for a 3:00 pm match start in non-conference action.
