ALFRED, NY -- Sophomore distance runner, Lindsay Piraino (Nunda, NY/Keshequa), earned the Empire 8 Track Athlete of the Week recognition after her performance last week.

Piraino has had a stellar season so far which was first highlighted by her breaking her own school record in the 10,000 meter run by by 33.31 seconds. Piraino upped the mark from 38:40.60 to 38:07.29 during the New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) Championships. This past week, she bested her new mark by 4.61 seconds to 38:03.90 during the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships held at Westfield (MA) State University. Her run placed her in third place out of the 12-runner field.
