Seth Spicer (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) won the shot put in the men's heptathlon on Friday's first day of competition at the ECAC indoor track and field championships.

The two-day meet, held at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY, concludes today (Saturday, March 5). Alfred, with three athletes competing at the championships, posted not team score after Friday's events.

Spicer's winning throw in the shot put was a personal-best 12.47 meters. He took sixth in the 60-meter dash (7.51 seconds), eighth in the long jump (6.01 meters), and 10
th in the high jump (1.70 meters). Fourteen athletes are competing in the heptathlon, which concludes today with the pole vault, 60-meter hurdles and 1,000-meter run.

Ian Bishop (Bronx, NY/Bronxville Prep) also competed for the Saxons Friday, finishing 14
th in the shot put (14.67 meters).
