Meet ResultsITHACA, NY – The Alfred University men's track and field competed Friday at the New York State indoor championship meet at Ithaca College.

The meet is being held Friday and Saturday (Feb. 26 and 27). After the first day of competition, AU had not posted a team score. Most events Friday were preliminary heats.

AU sophomore
Seth Spicer (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) completed the first four events of the men's heptathlon on Friday, accumulating 2,448 points to stand in third place out of 13 competitors. He finished fourth in the 60-meter dash (7.59 seconds, a personal best); sixth in the long jump (5.98 meters); won the shot put (12.26 meters, a personal best); and fifth in the high jump (1.72 meters). The heptathlon concludes Saturday with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000-meter run.

Also on Friday, senior
Gregory Matos (Bronx, NY/Ellis Prep) qualified for Saturday's finals in the 400-meter dash. Matos placed sixth in the preliminaries with a time of 51.23 seconds. The top eight in prelims advance to finals.

Saxon junior
Jeffrey Nunez (Wurtsboro, NY/Ellenville) was ninth in the weight throw (14.94 meters), while freshmen
Zac Mapes (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and
Spencer Cameron-Pressley (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) were ninth (6.12 meters) and 12
th (6.06 meters), respectively, in the long jump.

AU sophomore
Jared Watkins (Buffalo, NY/Cleveland Hill), in the 200-meter dash, and junior
Kevin Dixon (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen), in the 5,000-meter run, fared well in their respective preliminary rounds but did not advance. Watkins was 11
th in the 200 (23.45) and Dixon was 15
th (15:50.13).
