Podium PhotosITHACA, NY – The Alfred University men's indoor track and field team finished 10th in the NYSCTC meet at Ithaca College on Saturday.

Seth Spicer (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) was the highest place-earner with his second place finish in the heptathlon with 4,480 points, a new school record. He was 100 points out of tying for first place and his second place finish earned the Saxons eight points out of their 24 points. Spicer's point total eclipsed the former school mark of 4,425 points set by Shane Stadtmueller in 2013.

Ian Bishop (Bronx, NY/Bronxwood Prep) and
Anders Presthus (Lansing, NY/Lansing) finished fourth and seventh, respectively, in the shot put with distances of 48-4.75 feet and 45-11.75 feet. Their places combined for seven team points.

Gregory Matos (Bronx, NY/ELLIS Prep) and
Erik Diehl (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) both finished fifth in their respective events. Matos ran a 50.86 in the 400 meter dash and Diehl earned his four points with a 1:58.14 in the 800 meters.

Zac Mapes (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) rounded out the scoring with an eighth-place finish in the high jump with a height of 5-10 for one point.

Bishop will next go to Staten Island for the ECAC Indoor Championship Meet on Friday, March 4 until March 5.
