Box Score MYRTLE BEACH, SC – The Alfred University men's lacrosse team defeated Hilbert College, 18-10, Monday afternoon in the first of three games the Saxons are playing on their Spring Break trip to Myrtle Beach. 
AU got three goals and four assists from senior attacker 
Nicolas Wood (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) and five points each from freshman attacker 
Jake Lynch (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) (four goals, one assist) and sophomore attacker 
John Winchell  (Vestal, NY/Vestal) (three goals, two assists) as the Saxons improved to 2-0 on the season.
AU held a slim 5-3 lead after one quarter before outscoring the Hawks 5-1 in the second to take a commanding 10-4 halftime lead. The Saxons maintained a six-goal lead  after a 3-3 third period, then outscored Hilbert 5-3 in the final frame to pull away. Alfred held a 42-15 advantage in groundballs, with sophomore midfielder 
Jimmy Pratti (Minisink, NY/Minisink Valley) winning 19 of 29 face-offs and picking up six groundballs. Lynch, sophomore defender 
Eric Kwietniewski (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) and junior
 defender Max Wilson (Menlo Park, CA/Menlo-Atherton) each had three groundballs. 
Alfred outshot Hilbert 40-26 and converted on three of nine man-up opportunities. Sophomore midfielder 
Nick Skibitski Buffalo, NY/Williamsville East) had three goals and an assist; sophomore attack 
Derek Bishopp (Livonia, NY/Livonia) had a goal, three assists and five groundballs; junior midfielder 
Tanner Morse (Corning, NY/Corning East) had a pair of goals and an assist; and sophomore midfielder 
Robert Ensmenger (Old Bethpage, NY/JFK-Plainview) and freshman attacker
 Heiu Tran (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) each netted a goal. 
Senior attacker 
Ben DeMarco (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown) and junior midfielder 
Patrick Byrne (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) (three groundballs) each had an assist. 
Freshman 
Drew Gardner (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) started in goal for the Saxons and made seven saves while allowing nine goals. Freshman 
Chris Doktor (East Rochester, NY/Eastridge) made one save and allowed a goal in relief of Gardner. 
AU continues its Spring Break trip with a 3 p.m. game Wednesday (March 11) against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The Saxons wrap up play in Myrtle Beach on Friday, March 13, at 10 a.m. against Emmanuel College.
