ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming and diving team ended its two-day, two-meet weekend with a 159-125 loss to Hartwick College on Saturday afternoon in McLane Center.

The 200 Free Relay team of Chrissy Behr (Surf City, NJ/Southern Regional), Elizabeth Schiffhauer (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East), Kelsey McRill (Solon, OH/Solon) and Dylan Staniszewski (Oakton, VA/Oakton) ended the weekend on a high note as the four outswam Hartwick's 'A' team by almost three seconds. The group earned the final points of the day with a time of 1:43.81.

Staniszewski proved to be a tough opponent all weekend in the distance events. She won the 500 Free with a time of 5:30.09 in a close finish with Hartwick's Kaitlyn Campbell's 5:34.31 second place finish. Staniszewski, however, did not compete in the 1,000 Free where she took top honors in yesterday's road meet against Le Moyne College. Instead, she was entered in the 100 Free where she edged out Imma Rutigliano by 0.57 of a second (55.27). She also had another close win in the 200 Free with a time of 1:59.04. She beat out Rutigliano (2:00.26) again by less than a second.

Behr got things rolling in her individual performances with a win in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:01.33. She also earned a win in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:03.72. Her race bested the Hawks' Janine Warren by almost three seconds. Behr was joined by Leah Zimmerman (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) and Schiffhauer for a 1-3-5 finish. Their times were 25.38, 27.25 and 27.44, respectively.

Emma Gromelski got a first place finish on the 3-Meter board with a final score of 146.60. The score was her career best on the high board despite taking a reduction of points on one of her six dives. She also topped the visiting Meghan Barry in a head-to-head contest on the 1-Meter. Gromelski won 144.83-131.93.

McRill earned a second place finish in the 100 Breaststroke with a performance of 1:15.50.

The Saxons will enjoy a week of practice before having to compete again. They will host the Bombers of Ithaca College on Saturday, January 24 at 1:00 pm in McLane Center where the seniors will be honored in pre-meet ceremonies.
