ALFRED, NY -- Brett Carroll (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon-St. Jude), a senior attacker on the Alfred University men's lacrosse team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week.

Carroll was honored for his play last week, when AU defeated host Elmira, 12-1, for the Saxons' first conference win of the year. Carroll scored the game-winning goal with 2:44 left in regulation, breaking an 11-11 tie. He finished the contest with five goals, five groundballs and three caused turnovers.

Carroll leads the Saxons in goals, with 18, and is second in the team in points, with 20 (18 goals, two assists).

Alfred (3-5, 1-2 Empire 8) is in action next at 7 p.m. tonight (April 7) at Houghton.
