Box Score ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's lacrosse team fell 14-5 to visiting St. John Fisher College in Empire 8 play, Saturday afternoon.
           
Back-to-back Alfred goals, inside four minutes, in the second quarter, from sophomore midfielder Tanner Morse (Corning, NY/Corning East) and freshman midfielder Derek Bishopp (Livonia, NY/Livonia) cut the St. John Fisher lead to 4-2 heading into halftime.
           
The Cardinals opened the second half with six unanswered goals before junior attack Nicolas Wood (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) netted an unassisted goal, closing out the third quarter.
           
Senior defender Pat Walsh (Lakeview, NY/Bishop Timon-St. Jude) and freshman attack John Winchell (Vestal, NY/Vestal) each scored in the fourth quarter, but the Saxons were unable to cut the deficit as time expired.
           
Walsh finished with a team-best six groundballs and two caused turnovers
          
Junior goalie Cody O'Connor (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) played the full 60 minutes in net for AU, making 10 saves.
           
Alfred (4-7, 1-4 Empire 8) returns to action on Wednesday, April 23, at 4 p.m. against Ithaca College.
