Box Score PITTSFORD, NY – The Alfred University men's lacrosse team lost, 16-5, to host Nazareth College Thursday in the Saxons' Empire 8 Conference opener.

Nazareth held a 12-1 lead at halftime, as junior attacker Nicolas Wood (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) tallied Alfred's lone goal in the first 30 minutes of play. Senior attack Brett Carroll (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon-St. Jude) netted three goals in the second half, and freshman midfielder Nick Skibitsky (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville East) added one.

Sophomore midfielder Tanner Morse (Corning, NY/Corning East) caused two turnovers and had assisted on two goals. Freshman midfielder Derek Bishopp (Livonia, NY/Livonia) went three-for-six on face-offs and scooped up four groundballs.

Junior goalie Tyler Beyor (Carthage, NY/Carthage) made five saves in 45 minutes before junior Cody O'Connor (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) (five saves) took over in the fourth quarter.

AU (2-4, 0-1 Empire 8) plays next on Saturday, March 29, at 1 p.m. at Empire 8 foe Stevens.
