Box Score KEUKA PARK, NY – The Alfred University men's lacrosse team dropped an 11-10 overtime loss to Keuka College, Saturday evening on the road.
Junior attacker
Nicolas Wood (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) struck first for AU before Keuka scored three unanswered goals. Wood scored another goal with seven minutes remaining in the first quarter, cutting the Storm lead to 3-2. Keuka added two more goals in the second quarter, bringing the lead to 4-2 at halftime.
Senior midfielder
Brendan Sullivan (Stafford, VA/North Stafford) opened the third quarter with a goal, freshman attacker
John Winchell (Vestal, NY/Vestal) scored at the 6:40 minute-mark, and senior attack
Brett Carroll (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon-St. Jude) notched another goal, but the Saxons still trailed, 7-5, after three frames of play.
Back-to-back goals from freshman midfielder
Nick Skibitsky (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville East) and Carroll gave Alfred their first lead of the game (10-9) before Keuka evened the score at 10-10 as time expired in regulation.
The Storm scored in the sudden-death overtime period, ending the game and securing the victory.
Sophomore
Nolan Jessop (Churchville, NY/Churchville-Chili) picked up a team-best five groundballs.
Junior goalie
Cody O'Connor (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) played the full contest in net with 12 saves.
Alfred (2-3, 0-0 Empire 8) returns to action on Wednesday, March 26, at 4 p.m. against Nazareth.
