ROCHESTER, NY - The Alfred University men's track & field team celebrated the final day of the Empire 8 Outdoor Track & Field Championships with multiple podium finishes.
Sekou Camara (Conakry, Guinea/ICSA) led Alfred University with a first-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.96m (6'-5"). The finish for Camara was enough to qualify for the All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field Championships. Additionally, Camara's efforts earned the fourth-best mark in program history.
Zion Baitey (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) rounded out his impressive weekend with a win in the triple jump, finishing with a top mark of 14.51m (47'-7.25"). Baitey additionally qualified for the Regional Championships.
In the 200-meter dash,
Khamani Hunter Sr (Poughkeepsie, NY/FDR) finished in fourth place with a 22.06. The time for Hunter marked a personal-best for the junior.
Both
Finnegan Dean (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam Central) and
Zach Schultz (Middleport, NY/Royalton-Hartland) earned top 10 finishes, with Dean finishing with a time of 1:56.62 in the 800-meter run, while Schultz ended with a time of 58.07 in the 400-meter hurdles.
The Saxons relied on Dean, Hunter,
Riley Ciamarra (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) and
Jonathan Hodges (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) in the 4x400-meter relay, as the team placed third with a time of 3:21.36 and qualifying for Regionals.
