NEW YORK, NY – The Alfred University men's track & field team completed their two-day weekend in the All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field Conference Indoor Championship at the Armory Track on Saturday.
On Friday,
Jacob Taylor (Cohocton, NY/Avoca),
Jonathan Hodges (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West), Finnegan Dean (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam Central), and
Seth Stevens (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) opened the meet in record-breaking fashion, smashing their previous fourth-fastest time in school history (10:38.65) and setting a new program record with a time of 10:27.50 in the distance medley relay. This effort gave the Saxons an 11th-place finish.
In the 4x400 medley relay, Hodges,
Zach Schultz (Middleport, NY/Royalton-Hartland),
Riley Ciamarra (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas), and Dean delivered a time of 3:24.78, giving Alfred University yet another program best in only day one of the competition. Earlier this year, the same team of Saxons delivered the program's second fastest time of 3:26.89.
On day two, Hodges was the first runner for the Saxons, recording a time of 50.38 in 26
th place in the 400-meter. Dean followed in the 800-meter, beating his previous best of 1:58.47 with a new fastest time of 1:57.66. This effort brings his name up from sixth to fourth in program history for the event.
Alfred University next sets its sights on the outdoor portion of the season.
