SELINGSGROVE, PA – The Alfred University men's track & field team competed at the River Hawk Friday Night Showdown.
Khamani Hunter (Poughkeepsie, NY/FDR) shined at the meet, posting a pair of top-three finishes. Hunter notched a third-place finish in the first heat of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.08 and followed with a seventh place finish in the finals with the same time. He then earned a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash, clocking a time of 22.69.
The Saxons saw another highlight finish as they placed fourth in the 4x400-meter relay. The A-team of
Zach Schultz (Middleport, NY/Royalton-Hartland),
Riley Ciamarra (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas),
Aidan Bieron (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore West) and
Jonathan Hodges (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) combined for a time of 3:36.65. The Saxons chased down the top three teams that had gotten out to an early lead for the come-from-behind heat victory, The Saxons' B-team followed suit, as the team of
David Winchenbach (Jefferson, ME/Lincoln Academy),
Ben Klee (Elmira, NY/Elmira),
Connor Russell (Canastota, NY/Canastota) and S
eth Stevens (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) combined for a time of 3:58.18. Just like in the heat for the A-team, the Saxons had two teams ahead of them. This time, both those teams from Juniata were ahead of the Saxons after the final handoff from Russell to Stevens. Stevens chased down the two runners from Juniata and passed them to win by a lengthy distance.
Schultz also took 14th place in the 400-meter dash at 54.73, just ahead of Ciamarra's 54.94. In the 800-meter run, Stevens posted a ninth-place finish, notching a personal best of 2:04.88.
In the field, Damiel Fowler (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) took 10th place, throwing 13.32m (43'-8.5'') in the weight throw and 13th in shot put with 12.66m (41'-6.5'').
The Saxons will next travel to Nazareth University on Friday, February 13 at 2pm.
