ROCHESTER, NY -- The Alfred University men's track & field team traveled to Nazareth University to compete in the D3 Elite Meet on Friday and Saturday.
Jacob Taylor (Cohocton, NY/Avoca),
Jonathan Hodges (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West),
Finnegan Dean (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam Central) and
Seth Stevens (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) ran in the distance medley relay and Friday evening. The four placed second, running a time of 10:38.65, just shy of the school record time of 10:33.11. The group now own the fourth fastest DMR time in school history, surpassing 2013's time of 10:39.94 during the NYSCTC Championships. That time was a combination of
Edward Potter '15,
Jeremy Weaver '13,
Ethan Foster '16 and
Nolan Rummel '14.
On Friday, in the 60-meter hurdles,
David Winchenbach (Jefferson, ME/Lincoln Academy) finished with a time of 8.97 seconds (8.964 seconds). Following just milliseconds behind was
Zachary Shultz (Middleport, NY/Royalton-Hartland), who ran a time of 8.97 seconds (8.968 seconds). Winchenbach also competed in the long jump, where he marked a distance of 6.08m (19'-11.5").
In the 60m dash on Friday,Â
Khamani Hunter Sr. (Poughkeepsie, NY/FDR) qualified for the finals with a fifth-place seeding with a time of 7.16 seconds. On Saturday, Hunter placed fourth with a time of 7.14.
In the field,
Daimel Fowler (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) threw for 11.48 meters (37'-8") in the weight throw. It was Saturday's shot put where Fowler threw for a new personal best. He surpassed his previous best with a new mark of 13.05m (42'-9.75").
In the 400-meter dash, Shultz placed 11th with a time of 53.65 seconds. In the 400-meter dash invite, Hodges placed fifth with a time of 50.72 seconds.
In the 800m Dean placed 8th and ran a time of 1:59.32. "We've had a great two days," Head CoachÂ
Matt Phillips '10 said. "Their hard work is really starting to show and it is setting us up nicely for E8's in two weeks."
The Saxons will next compete at Houghton University on Saturday, February 21 at 10:30am.
