YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Alfred University men's track & field team competed at the Youngstown State University Mid-Major Invitational on Saturday, wrapping up a two-day stay in Ohio.
The Saxon 4x400-meter relay had the top finish on the track, as the team of
Finnegan Dean (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam Central),
Aidan Bieron (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore West),
Ben Klee (Elmira, NY/Elmira) and
David Winchenbach (Jefferson, ME/Lincoln Academy) combined for a time of 3:48.71 for 14
th place. "The competition this weekend was a much bigger event than our team was used to but they handled it quite well," Head Coach
Matt Phillips '10 said. "We had some great performances and efforts both yesterday and today as we now are one month away from the Empire 8 championships."
Jacob Taylor (Cohocton, NY/Avoca) had the top performance as an individual on the track, running a 4:39.10 in the mile to take 32
nd place.
Seth Stevens (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) followed in 39
th place with a time of 4:42.95.
The Saxons will next travel to Susquehanna University for a Friday meet on February 6 at 4:00pm.
