Women’s Cross Country Beats Keuka at St. John Fisher’s Rodenbeck Invite

ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University women's cross country team finished 10th out of 11 teams at the St. John Fisher Rodenbeck Invitational on Friday evening.

"It turned out to be a great day for our competition. The rain held off and the temperature and humidity were just about perfect for a cross country race," Head Coach Matt Phillips '10 said. "The Saxons showed up today and put down some solid results. The women had an average time of 17 seconds faster than last year, with the top five ladies running more than a minute faster for their team time. This was the first race for the majority of our squad today, and I'm so happy with what they were able to accomplish."

Alivia Kocan (Hornell, NY/Arkport Central) posted the top time for the Saxons, clocking in a time of 18:04.0 for 57th place in the scoring listing. The top five Saxons all stayed close as Vivian Crane (Branchport, NY/Avoca) ran an 18:31.2, Rain Newton (Phelps, NY/Midlakes) crossed in a time of 18:37.4, Sydney Ribble (Addison, NY/Addison) ran a time of 18:52.3 and Nyah Allen (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) finished with a 19:09.4.

The Saxons won't compete again until late September. They will next run at the University of Rochester on September 20.
